Gathering

Thursday night, we sort of had a gathering at Yew Wen's place. We invited one of our batchmates, Jamie to come. He's a direct entry student like us. He's from St. Andrews. We invited some others too but they couldn't make it...

We cooked some Malaysian dishes. There's chicken. 2 chicken dishes actually and it tasted good. Thanks to Chef Alfredo! And there were sushi. Thanks to Naomi and Yew Wen. Yumm...hand made la some more... And, there were pizza. Thanks to Lieo Jiun. And there were cheesecake by Li Li and apple crumble. Apple crumble is by your's truly....:) And also some sago desert with gula melaka by Alfred. Ohhh....everything was really delicious...!!!!!!!

So, we ate and chatted and joked around and laughed. It was fun!! :)

Afterwards, we played Wii. Yes, Yew Wen's housemate, John? (who also joined us for dinner!!) has Wii in the house!! SO COOL!!! We played tennis and boxing.

The boxing thing was so tiring. Alfred was doing it in a really really funny way. He described it as doing a cha cham bo. You know that dance.... Naomi, Art (oh yeah, Art, Naomi's housemate, also came) and me just laughed and laughed. I laughed until I had a stomachache!! He was battling with Jamie and in the end Jamie also started using his method and he actually won against him... and he lost to him before that using a normal boxing way. It was hilarious!!!!!!

Then we played Resident Evil. OMG it was sooo crazy and scary and exciting all at the same time!! Halfway through, Jamie had to go back. It was really late by then anyway, like 12 something already.

We continued playing after that. And we were trying to finish this level and just couldn't get through that stupid monster and we already tried a lot of ways too...In the end, the monster was finally defeated in a really simple way.....but we were just relieved to be able to get through it... AIhhh. And by the time we were done, do you know what time it was? It was 6 a.m.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I woke up at 10 a.m. the next day....I think I'm crazy....

Oran Mor

I've always heard a lot about Oran Mor but I've not gotten there yet... until last Thursday!!!

It's a cathedral turned pub/bar/club/restaurant and etc etc. It's a really really beautiful place. I guess it does look a bit dodgy from the outside especially at night but inside it looks fantastic!!! Then again, I've only gotten to see a small part of it...

So, I went there with Liying last Thursday. We went to the Whisky Bar cause Liying always said she wanted to try the Whisky of the Month or something... So we did!


It has sort of a nice ambience to it. I liked the way it looks like those old cowboy scenes with a modern twist. Hmm...I'm confused with my description..

I know it's dark and all.. There's the bar at the back. See the glitter? Those are bottles.

The seats are beautiful and the curtains and the pictures hanging there. Nice. Really nice.

I was taking the Malt of the Month. Isle of Jura. I hope I didn't get it wrong... It was ok....

Liying was drinking Ardberg. Urghh. Tastes really strong. But, really, sip after sip, it starts to get more bearable.

In the end, Liying couldn't take it...so she went and get a non alcoholic drink. I mixed it with the whisky and it was much better....

We wanted to the club but they change entry fee, so we skipped it. Maybe next time. :)

He's from St. Andrews and because of the introduction thing we had in the first 5 weeks of entering the uni, we all got to know each other better... and, coincidentally we are in the same posting to Ayr Hospital. And, to get there, we have to take a train which takes almost an hour to reach there. Yes, it's that far.

GUMS Welcoming Party at O' Couture

Okay...I know this is a bit outdated but I was really lazy to write about it.

So, this is the first Glasgow University Malaysian Society (GUMS) (if any of you were wondering what GUMS in the title meant) activity since the passing over of positions. THE Welcoming Party!!!! This time it was held at O' Couture, which is like a bar/restaurant/pub... It's a fairly new place and it looks really really nice.

So, anyway, the commitee had to be there earlier and I was just tagging along cause most people I know are in the commitee...eg. Jiun, Naomi, Sree... so we arrived there earlier than most people. And one of the main reasons is that they need to collect money for the entrance and all that. HAHahaa...and they took the first couch there for purposes of easy access..

Christmas Dinner 2008

During the last day of our block, which is a Friday, before we are off with studying!!!, we had this small Christmas Dinner thingy with presents exchange in Liying's and Lieo Jiun's flat and this includes Antonio and Anne-lise. And Lieo Jiun, on the day before, bought a Christmas tree. A live one!!! Just a small one though and we decorated it. :) (see picture below)

I arrived at Liying's place at round 7 p.m. and we were supposed to dress formal. Marc even wore a tie! And he looks really smart. I thought we start the dinner at 7 but everyone was not ready and late...Lieo Jiun even slept and didn't wake up until 8 p.m. something?... That is also after Marc woke him up....sweat.

So, in the meantime, we had a pre-dinner photo session.

Everyone is supposed to make something each for the dinner.. No, I didn't make anything. I'm terrible at cooking... So, Liying and I bought a fruit cake which didn't finish cause apparently a lot of them don't particularly like fruit cake... But, it was good...
Helene (pronounced without the H) made some kind of bread which was really good..and Anne-lise brought potato wedges, vege and there was some bread and some pate which was not bad...
AND of course, there was TURKEY!! supervised by Jiun, Erin and Marc. I think..
The stuffings were simple. I guess they don't have enough things but to our standard, it was great! Yummy turkey. SLurpps.

After eating, we actually played some drinking game. But, I haven't saved the pictures from other people's camera. SO, just imagine it. It's a snakes and ladders game but in a way that when you land on a specific box, that person needs to take shots or some truth or dare and stuffs like that....

I was lucky. I didn't get anything at all...Save all the way. Woo.

So, I was sober.

Then, we decided the winner can get the other losers to do whatever they want. Guess who won.
ANTONIO. When he wanted to explain, nobody wanted to listen to him. Poor guy.

But, in the end. We gave in.

But before that, the occupants of Zoe's flat came down cause they were going to have a party for Giovanni who was going to leave soon. By now, he's left. He's a pretty cute Italian guy. :) I've got pics. Not now though...

Okay, so back to Antonio's request, he wanted us to race running or smth so we went and run up and down the stairs and I think the loser was supposed to do something but I have no idea what because in the end everyone sort of ignored it...

Then, we went back and start to exchange presents.

First we asked Antonio to give his present. His present is for Anne-lise.

He bought her a glue, a bottle with straws and selotape and a condom.

And in the card, he explained the purpose of the things. He's soooo funny!!

Then, before we knew it, it was too late. So, we all wanted to go back.

Lazy

There's so many things to update and I'm really lazy. Must be the holiday mood...

I haven't done my PBL -_- " Anyway, I'm trying to do them now. Tomorrow have to go to a hospice for lecture? I also don't know what we're doing there. Then Tuesday got GP. Oh no. I like my GP and all but I'm scared of the fact that I have to take history and see patients. No confidence...:( And I suck at it. Terribly terribly bad.... and it would be damn degrading to my already degraded self esteem. But on the bright side :) :) after that I'd be more relaxed. Cause there's nothing too important on and then HOLS!!!! Yay!! Yayy!!!!!

Hmm...I think probably I'll summarise what I've been up to these few days. Well, on Friday, went to GUMS Welcoming Party at O'Couture. No...not some dentist gathering... it stands for Glasgow University Malaysian Society. :) Great company and good laughs. Food not so great but it's food anyway. Can't argue with that. Had some alcohol which I didn't even buy myself....-_- Clubbing area doesn't seem very happening. I didn't dance. No. Just observing. And left relatively early. And go back sleep. Was surprisingly tired... By the way, O'Couture is a bar/club/restaurant, if anyone wondering... Saw a cute guy too!! Haha. And he's really nice and friendly and all. :)

Saturday, Liying said want to go city and I wanted to go get some things. Yup, need to do some Christmas shopping dy and came back buying a lot of things. For me, considerably ok....I guess. But, for Liying.....she bought like really really a lot. Sigh. Yes, I stopped by the Christmas Market again and we tried the mulled wine and the German sausage is yumm orgasmic... Will take pics and stuffs of the things I bought as usual...hmm let me try to remember... First thing went to the market first and bought banana chocolate and some stuffs. Then, bought the dream catchers keychain for friends in Malaysia. Also, bought a bracelet for myself. Then, stopped by Clarks too. Liying bought shoes and I was contemplating on getting a dinner purse...will go back one day. Bought Christmas cards for 1 pound. Was quite a good deal. And some stickers... I wanted to buy some carnations but figured it'd be hard to bring back with all the other luggage... Will get them next time.. Also, went to Marks and Spencer. Bought a scarf for gift and a fruit cake for Christmas. :) Hmm..what else? We went to quite a number of places but I didn't buy. Just Liying... And finally we went to Au Naturale. Bought three small purses...something such, for 4 pounds. It was a discounted price, that. I needed them to put some of my facial products cause the previous one, the zip burst... Arrived home and then play some drinking game. Liying bought them...will tell the reason some other time. It was fun. Though we didn't play with alcohol, just lemonade. Haha. Was too happy to lose...

Sunday, went to church and then went to Woolsworth. And came out carrying loads of stuffs -_- I bought a Christmas tree for 1.50 pounds. I already assembled it. Doesn't look too good though... but I was hoping with some deco it would look at least decent. I bought some bauble silver balls, a star and some tinsels And I bought glasses for cheap. Will tell later why... And I bought cards again cause I realised there weren't enough.. I bought a wok...and a mixing bowl... and the most ridiculous one of all...I bought a styling tong.... you know, the ones to curl the hair...for 5 pounds. I have no idea what I was doing.... and I bought chocolates!! Like lots and lots of them. I should be broke now..

Yup, that's about it.. Haven't actually written anything for a long time. Just been putting pics and all. Haha. A change for today...
